Half Batch Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (227 g) lukewarm water

  • 1 tablespoon (12 g) olive oil, plus more for greasing

  • 1/2 tablespoon (9 g) sugar

  • 1/2 tablespoon (9 g) salt

  • 1/2 packet (4.5 g) active dry or instant yeast

  • 3 cups (360 g) bread flour or pizza flour blend

  • 1 tablespoon (6 g) pizza dough flavoring, optional

Directions

  • In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine the lukewarm water, olive oil, sugar, salt, and yeast.

  • Add the flour (and dough flavoring if using). Mix until a soft dough forms.

  • Knead by hand or mixer for 7–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  • Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.

  • Turn dough onto a lightly greased surface and gently deflate.

  • Divide into two or three pieces depending on desired crust thickness.

  • Roll or hand-stretch each piece into rounds about 12 inches in diameter, letting the dough rest as needed to relax.
